About San Diego Newsline

San Diego Newsline covers downtown San Diego first — City Hall, the Gaslamp Quarter, East Village, Little Italy, Barrio Logan, and the waterfront — and the county around it. We put the questions taxpayers and business owners ask at the top of the page: what does it cost, who pays, how did officials vote, and is the public safer.

Legal standing. San Diego Newsline is adjudicated as a newspaper of general circulation for San Diego County by the Superior Court of California, County of San Diego, Case No. 410977 (adjudicated March 15, 1978; microfilm Book 1152, Page 410).

Our standards

News and opinion are separate. News stories report facts from public records and official sources, each linked so you can check it yourself. Opinion is always labeled Commentary, Editorial, or Analysis.

Every fact has a source. We don't publish numbers, names, votes, or quotes we can't point to. People accused of crimes are "charged" or "alleged" until convicted.

Corrections. When we get something wrong we fix it and say so. Write to us.

How we work. Our newsroom uses AI tools to monitor official sources and draft stories from them; every published story links to the public documents it's based on. The News Wire lists official announcements from the City of San Diego, the County of San Diego, the San Diego Superior Court, MTS, and the Gaslamp Quarter Association, with links to the originals.
